Cherhill Village Hall

The Village Hall will be upgrading it’s insulation in the New year thanks to a grant from North Wilts District Council.  This should make the hall warmer and easier to heat in the winter.  The Village hall has also received a grant from NWDC to help upgrade the kitchen.  The new front doors have been fitted with more substantial bolts.  A new tap dancing class has started on Monday evenings – more information from Anna Bromiley.

The Village Hall is available for hire during the day on Saturdays and Tuesdays as well as on Monday and Friday afternoons and less frequently at other times.  If you want to hire a modern hall with a stage and ample kitchen facilities or the meeting room, please contact Maggie Moore, the Booking Clerk to discuss (01249 – 814979).

Cherhill Village Hall also has a page on the Northwilts Community Web, click here to view

IT Skills & Digital Photography at Cherhill Village Hall

Would you like to be able to produce leaflets, greetings cards or a calendar using your own photos? Or maybe learn more about your word processor or spreadsheet, or take better photographs with your digital camera, with tips from a professional photographer?

White Horse Computer Training in conjunction with the Cherhill Village Hall committee offers photography and IT learning opportunities for people living in Cherhill and the surrounding villages. Courses run for between 3 and 7 weeks and are taught by professional trainers. Courses are practical, informative and most of all fun! Wherever possible, the software we use is freely available from the internet, although we do have Microsoft Office and Open Office on our laptop computers. Training is extremely active involving you at every step. Courses planned include:

Enjoy your digital camera - Introducing you to your camera and its settings, a practical photography session and field visit, downloading the images to the computer and basic photo enhancement such as lightening, cropping, and applying effects.

Getting Started with Photo Editing – To go further with enhancing photos then this course is for you. Using free software, we explore improving photos, cutting out unwanted areas, retouching and combining images.

Introducing IT – Beginner’s session for those who want to start using a computer or who want to refresh their basic IT skills and learn some new ones as well.

What can a Word Processor do for me? – This course helps you use a word processor more effectively. You’ll learn to use photos and images in your documents, timesaving ideas and working with longer documents.

What can Desktop Publishing do for me? - Desktop publishing lets you create posters, flyers, greetings cards and more. If you have followed our digital photography course, this is an ideal chance to use your own photos for a calendar or greetings cards.

The courses run on Friday mornings or afternoons and start in early October. Courses normally require 6 people to start, but a waiting list will be kept of requests for future courses.
